METHODOLOGY FOR CARRYING OUT
EXECUTIVE SEARCHES

Below is a brief description of the Executive Search Process as we apply it to client engagements.

Phase 1 - Initiation

This phase represents the Consultant learning activity which leads ultimately to a search proposal and documents relating to the particulars of the search. No amount of time spent in the first phase is wasted and the benefits of work well done in Phase 1 are manifest throughout subsequent phases.

Phase 2 - Candidate Identification

This phase represents the candidate identification process. Research includes library and database research, research through source contacts and penetration into the communities of interest.

Phase 3 - Candidate Interviewing

This phase consists of candidate interviewing. Palmer & Company is a firm that is committed to thorough, structured, and targeted interviewing. As a rule, our approach has been to provide information on client requirements in full detail so that the candidates have something against which to match themselves. This traditionally provides for a relaxed environment for interviewing as well as an efficient exchange of relevant information.

Phase 4 - Short List and Decision

Candidate interviewing is the logical antecedent to the creation of a candidate short list and client/candidate interviews which begins Phase 4 of the Executive Search Process.  The result of client/candidate interviews is the determination of the preferred or prime candidates.  That determination is one which is made with the assistance of the Consultant on the engagement.  At this point, we enter the final stages of the process with reference contact, evaluation, and reporting.
